KRTC through the broadcasting and electronic information display in the car and the station remind and encourage passengers not to eat, drink, chew gum, betel nuts and smoke within the paid area of the Metro stations. According to Article 50, Item 9 of the Mass Rapid Transit Law (matching the Taipei MRT), drinking water or any beverages is a form of drinking. Therefore, something as simple as water is considered to be incorporated within the law and the scope of the prohibition. The Metro police strictly enforce the relevant penalties, and the offender will be fined NT$1,500.
