Stipulation for Passengers with Bicycles

Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation Guidelines on Passengers Carrying General Bicycles onto Metro (Revised on June 6, 2016)

I. Available route and schedule: The general sized bicycle refers to a non-powered bicycle that is 120 cm high, 180 cm long and 70 cm wide.

(i) Time opening: All time during operating hours.

(ii) Stations allowed: Stations along Red and Orange Lines.

II. Fee: One person per bicycle without limitation on the mileage. Total ticket fee is NT$60 (original price is NT$100)

III. Access the station: please use the barrier-free ramps and elevators inside and outside the station (maximum 2 bikes per time). It is prohibited to use the stairs and escalators and also prohibited to ride or slide on the bicycle.

IV. Access the paid area of the station: tickets are purchased at the station service desk. After ticket check, one can enter through the official gate. The ticket will be retrieved by the service personnel when exiting through the official gate.

V. Access the car: bicycles can only be placed in the first car in the area close to the first, second, third and fourth doors. Each door section can only park one bicycle, so each train can park up to four bicycles. Bicycles cannot occupy the barrier-free space. It should be parked between the two poles in the middle of the car door. The bicycle is parked between the passenger and the pole while being vertical to the train traveling direction (as shown below).

VI. Notes on carrying bicycle on board:

(i) Passengers carrying bicycles must queue up with other passengers to enter / exit the car. If evidentially there is insufficient space, please wait for the next train. Please do not force enter the car to avoid impeding other passengers.

(ii) In case of emergency, the passenger must leave the bicycle in the car while following the instruction from train broadcast. If necessary, move the bicycle to the side of the non-opening door to avoid affecting the escape route.

(iii) The bicycle carried by the passenger should be kept clean, if considered dirty, KRTC has the right to reject transportation.

(iv) Passenger carrying bicycle should ensure the bicycle stay with them, and when need to, ensure to hang on to the bicycle at all times. Do not sit on the bicycle or leave bicycle unattended.

(v) Passenger carrying bicycle need to pay attention to other passengers entering or exiting the car together with their safety, be courteous to their routes and please also ensure the bicycle doesn’t dirty other passenger’s clothing.

(vi) When the passenger carrying bicycle that caused any damages to the KRTC or the third party, passenger carrying the bicycle should be legally responsible. If there is possibility that it could cause other passengers’ inconvenience or affects safety, the company can reject transportation.

(vii) When emergency occurs to the Metro system, if need be, the KRTC can stop passenger from carrying the bicycle in or out of the Metro system.

(viii) One should strictly abide by the provisions of the Mass Rapid Transit Law, relevant laws and regulations and the “Passenger Guidelines” set by KRTC together with all the indications set in this document. If there are any violations, the passenger would be held responsible while bearing all the liabilities for their damages. KRTC is not liable for any damages.

VII. Based on the operational needs, KRTC is required to make announcement on the Passenger Guidelines if there is adjustments made to the time, station and other relevant regulations for passengers to carry bicycle on board.

 

Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corporation Guidelines on Passengers Carrying Folding Bicycles onto Metro (Revised on June 6, 2016)

I. Available route and schedule: available within operating hours of the Red and Orange Lines, a folding bicycle with a total length, width and height of 220 cm or less after folding are free of charge.

II. Access the station: please use the barrier-free ramps and elevators inside and outside the station (maximum 2 bikes per time). It is prohibited to use the stairs and escalators and also prohibited to ride or slide on the bicycle.

III. Access the paid area of the station: access through barrier-free gates. Passenger need to ensure the folding bicycle is securely folded and that it would not affect other passenger’s routes before entering the car.

IV. Notes on carrying folding bicycle on board:

(i) Once determined by KRTC that the bicycle is not a folding bicycle or that the station or train personnel find that the bicycle the passenger is carrying is not folded before entering the car, a fee of discounted price of NT$60 (original price of NT$100) will be charged.

(ii) It should be kept clean. If considered dirty, KRTC has the right to reject transportation.

(iii) Passenger carrying bicycle should ensure the bicycle stay with them, and when need to, ensure to hang on to the bicycle at all times. Do not sit on the bicycle or leave bicycle unattended.

(iv) Passenger carrying bicycle need to pay attention to other passengers entering or exiting the car together with their safety, be courteous to their routes and please also ensure the bicycle doesn’t dirty other passenger’s clothing.
