Does the Kaohsiung Metro still operate as usual during Typhoon Days? How do passengers know about whether Metro operates on Typhoon Day?

The Kaohsiung Metro system for Red Line is divided into underground stations and elevated stations. The only ground-level station is OT1 Daliao Station of the Orange Line. R3 Siaogang to R16 Zuoying Stations are underground stations so it would not be affected by typhoon and would continue to operate even during the time. However, the elevated stations of R17 World Games/National Sports Complex Station to R23 Ciaotou Station would operate depending on the wind speed. If the wind speed reaches level 8, the trains on the elevated section will slow down. If the wind speed reaches level 10; for passengers’ safety, all trains will not operate, except for the underground stations. Further, if the announcement has been made by Kaohsiung City government that work and school would be suspended temporarily due to typhoon, the Metro will operation with the off-peak headway of 20 minutes.
In addition, due to the dynamics of the typhoon, in order to take into account the safety of passengers, KRTC will adjust the operation mode at any time depending on the actual weather conditions. For related operation information, please refer to the official website announcement or call our customer service center [(07) 793- 8888 between 07:00~23:00], thank you.
