Bringing the World Together｜Kaohsiung Metro

“Bringing the world Together” is situated in the Hsinyi Elementary School MRT Station. This station named after an elementary school and is located in the middle of Kaohsiung city. Viewed as a whole Kaohsiung city is like a family with children at the center and these children are the future of Kaohsiung. After the MRT system opened children are able to take advantage of the speed and convenience of the system and become part of the flow of Kaohsiung. Like new blood infused into the body of the city they represent the renewed passion of Kaohsiung. This work is made up of four windows, which like doors that lead everywhere show city landscapes from all over the MRT network. By hanging three dimensional sculptures as a visual guide, one is surreally drawn into the pictures which are transformed into multi-layered scenes, with the four backgrounds of morning, afternoon, dusk and night. This represents the fact that the MRT rapidly transports people from point to point through Kaohsiung all day. The work infers that the MRT not only breathes new life into Kaohsiung city, but also promotes local identity and friendship. In this way, as children grow up journeys on the MRT become filled with memories of brilliant colors and sights.
